MTM 1.0 is a progressive workout program utilizing bodyweight and Superband exercises.  In order to master more advanced exercises utilizing kettlebells, medicine balls, dumbbells, etc, one must first be able to master their bodyweight. I designed these workouts to serve as the “launch” of an ongoing series of ebooks, therefore, you will be seeing additional MTM titles in the future!

“All I can say is…Wow.  I just completed the level 3 workout and boy, was I worked out.  I love the way you’re using bands to their full potential, not just standard squats, curls and overhead presses.  I feel like your methods are getting me stronger in ways that traditional strength training never did, at the extent of my reach especially.  Great for catching a leaping two year old who has no fear, doing yard work or helping my husband haul wood. All this while keeping my rotator cuff on the healing track.  You’re the best!” – Tonya B.

A Letter From Sarah

Dear Fellow Fitness Enthusiast,

L3 R3 3CIn the first eight years of my 15 year “love affair” with exercise, I spent countless hours on the Stairmaster, elliptical, and recumbent bike (in addition to my weight training workouts). If I could have gotten paid a shiny penny for every minute I spent wasting my time on these machines, you’d probably be watching me walk you through a tour of my multi-million dollar mansion on VH1’s “The Fabulous Life.”

You see, I am a much healthier person these days than back then. I started exercising as a senior in high school. I was anorexic. Exercise was just another way in which I could “control” my life. With the façade of being a healthy activity, working out regularly served to perpetuate and even amplify my unhealthy behavior. I had the “all or nothing” mentality, and lived in a constant state of being overtrained. I had an irrational fear of gaining bodyfat. This, coupled with my “must do more than everyone else” way of thinking, led me to exercise up to three times a day. It took a while for me to realize just how unhealthy I had become, and it took years for me to let go of the behaviors and thought patterns associated with my eating disorder and exercise addiction. Fortunately, I was able to make the changes necessary for me to be at the healthy place in my life where I am today, writing this book.

LADDER MB IN OUT SHUFFLE 2I’ve been a personal trainer for almost 14 years. A decade ago, I began working with clients in their homes. For the past four years, I’ve made this the focus of my personal training business. There have been numerous obstacles along the way, but I can honestly say that I was always meant to be a fitness professional. I had a few “departures” from this path. For a few years I believed I was meant to become a doctor. For another year or two, I believed Physical Therapy was my future. I couldn’t have been further from the truth. Every time I strayed from my true passion, personal training, I lost that “spark.” I became more of a “human doing” versus a “human being.”

I simply love helping people discover that being healthy isn’t as difficult as they once thought. I have also always loved the human body and its amazing systems. It’s quite simply the most amazing machine known to man. The human body is meant to move. Being able to promote (and at times, even restore) health in those I train is extremely rewarding for me. To me, personal training isn’t a job – it’s my life. I was once said to me “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” This is completely true for me. I love what I do!

ROPE ALT WAVE SQUAT 2My clients want to feel and look their best, so they can get the most out of life each and every day.  I want to be able to pass some of my “know how” on so that you, too, may benefit! This is why I’m writing this book. I want to be able to reach more people with my message – “fitness is a journey, not a destination – train for LIFE!”  Are you ready?

Yours in Health,

Sarah E. Rippel, BS, CPT

What is the “Outside the Box”

Metabolic Training Method?

What you are about to discover is my “Outside the Box” Metabolic Training Method (MTM).

The concept of metabolic training is not a new one, but it is one that has gained a lot of attention these days.  Simply put, metabolic training improves overall conditioning through total-body training.  Although it is anaerobic in nature, metabolic training can improve aerobic capacity.

I didn’t create the concept of metabolic training, but I have put my own “spin” on things.  In my eyes, EVERY workout is metabolic.  Most of my clients want to shed bodyfat and improve their overall conditioning, and my training methods must deliver!  Intensity is a key factor, and there are numerous ways to adjust the intensity of a workout in order to create the desired level.  Slackers beware: you’ve got to work hard, but it’s worth it!

My MTM is more effective for fat burning than traditional, steady-state cardio.  It has allowed me to stay lean and improve my aerobic capacity without setting foot on the Stairmaster.  To be perfectly honest, I can’t remember the last time I used one of those machines!  You will quickly notice that I do not use ANY machines in my workouts, because I am NOT a fan of machine-based training.  My MTM is a movement-based strength and mobility training hybrid.  My workouts are intense and get the job done.  I promise they will get your heart rate crankin’ and keep your metabolism elevated for hours afterward…oh yeah, and you’ll also have fun in the process!

My goal in writing this book is to provide you with numerous ways you can structure your own MTM workouts.  You will learn several different workout “formats” that I use regularly with my clients (both in-person and online).  I could go to great lengths to explain the “how’s and why’s” behind my MTM workouts, but I’m not going to bore you!  I’m not going to bog you down with big words and scientific mumbo-jumbo.  I want to give you information you can USE!

My MTM is not for beginners.  I also would like to point out that you must train smarter, not harder.  You can’t train at a high intensity level each and every workout, or else you will burn out.  I feel it is wise to alternate one day of higher-intensity exercise with a day of lower-intensity exercise, and there are numerous ways you can do this.  One easy way to achieve this is through the manipulation of rest intervals.  Again, my MTM is for intermediate to advanced exercisers.  I don’t feel it’s how you should train year-round, either.  It can fit into your current program.  If you have reached a plateau or are bored to tears with your current program, give my MTM a shot for four weeks.  Use a round or: two of my exercises as “finishers” to help end your workouts on a high note.  Throw in one of my MTM workouts on a Friday afternoon, prior to your “cheat meal.”

My MTM isn’t for everybody, but if you have what it takes, then get ready to experience a renewed excitement for training and some amazing results!

Please note:  This book was put together entirely by me, myself, and I…just like my website!  It is a grassroots project, and i’m extremely proud to be able to say that I have done so much all by myself.  You will be paying via PayPal.  I will personally be emailing a copy of MTM 1.0 to you, so please realize that you may not receive it immediately…but, you will receive it within 24 hours!  I know you will appreciate the time and effort i’ve put into my first book!  Also note that if you are ordering the videos, you will be receiving several segments.  I decided to split the video up into a warm-up segment and each level has it’s own workout footage.  This way, if you’re wanting to just click and open the warm-up footage, there you have it!

Thanks again for your support!  I look forward to hearing your feedback and witnessing your results from MTM 1.0!
